- I have been a stylist with Aveda for approximately 5 years.
- There are many key factors in making a great stylist; one should be a good listener – what does your client really want? What are they really saying? Inventive – What can you create for your client to solve their style challenges? What can you do to bring out their beauty? Capable – being highly skilled in the technical aspect of what you do for your client. Passionate – Love what you do! Love new opportunities! Love new styles! Love challenges! Absorb as much information as you can about what you do, and love it!
- I believe I possess each of these qualities. I enjoy working with all hair types: fine, thick, curly, light, dark, red, straight, short and long. Some of my personal favorites are thick hair that is so heavy it appears to be unmanageable, men’s and women’s short cuts, any kind of foil, and styling hair for an evening out.
- I attended the AVEDA Institute of Minneapolis, where I graduated top 5 in my class. Since then I have taken numerous classes, trainings, and conferences to hone my skills and stay current on what’s new within the industry.
- Some of the education events I have participated in include several AVEDA Congress’s, Long-hair styling, Cutting/Coloring techniques, bridal fairs, and AVEDA Trends. I have, and plan on continuing to, put a strong emphasis on education throughout my career. I need to stay on top of my game so that my clients can stay on top of theirs.
- Since I have become a stylist I have been awarded with multiple honors; such as “Most Dedicated to Guest Loyalty” (2009) and “Strongest Newcomer” (2005).
